True North Legal Group Celebrates Founding Attorney’s Military Promotion
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Josh Traeger, the Founding Attorney of True North Legal Group, has been selected for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserves.
On July 18, True North Legal Group will celebrate Traeger’s promotion, and enjoy a ribbon cutting ceremony, at Traverse Connect.
Mr. Traeger spoke humbly about his promotion earlier this week. “Serving in the United States Air Force, as I did on active duty for ten years and have now as a Reservist since 2020, has been one of the greatest joys of my life.”
“The integrity, dedication to mission, and selflessness that my fellow Airmen demonstrate every day inspire me to be a better leader and more compassionate business owner,” said Traeger. “I am so grateful to celebrate this accomplishment with my family, friends, and our community of Traverse City.”
Traeger joined the United States Air Force in 2010 and served on active duty for ten years, stationed in Georgia, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington, DC. During that time, Traeger primarily served as a senior military prosecutor, traveling the world and handling some of the military’s most difficult cases. He led military trials in South Korea, Guam, Japan, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and 27 different states (including Alaska and Hawaii). During his active-duty service, Traeger received multiple Meritorious Service Medals for his dedication to justice and the rule of law.
Upon his separation from active duty in 2020, Traeger relocated his family to Traverse City and founded True North Legal Group, a community-centered law practice. Despite a growing local business, Traeger has continued to serve in the United States Air Force Reserves in various roles, from supporting special operations in the United Kingdom to now teaching military law as an Instructor at the Air Force JAG School.
Traeger promotes to the grade of Lieutenant Colonel in July after fourteen years of military service. Of the Air Force total force (Active, Reserve, and National Guard), only approximately twenty percent of officers become Lieutenant Colonels.
